India: Vicat Sagar Cement, blessed by the gods
In the purest Indian tradition, the Vicat Sagar Cement plant organized a Bhoomie Puja on September 2. The Bhoomie Puja is a ceremony administered by Hindu priests when the first stone is laid to signal the construction of a building.
The ceremony was honored by the appearance of the Managing Director of the Sagar Group and his wife, in the presence of the President of the Vicat Group, the Managing Director, and the Deputy Managing Director, the General Director of Vicat Sagar and his wife, and the Co-Director of the Sagar Group. A large number of guests attended the event, which included local authorities, Indian contractors and many employees of Vicat Sagar, Sagar Cement, and RV Consulting.
The new plant, which should be fully operational by mid-2012, will enjoy a production capacity of 5.5 million tons, making it a major player in the country's southern region.
