V.I.E: supporting young talent in a unique international experience
With its firm belief that young people play an essential role in the transformation and performance of the industry, Vicat is actively committed to their integration and professional development.
Through the International Internship Program (V.I.E), the Group offers young graduates the opportunity to gain international experience at the very heart of its operations. At the Ragland site in Alabama (USA), our two V.I.E.s share their experiences and daily life within the Group's industrial operations.
Carla Chaume Piolat, V.I.E Data Engineer :
“After spending a year on a work-study placement at Vicat, I was given the opportunity to continue the adventure internationally through the V.I.E program, joining their U.S. subsidiary, the NATIONAL CEMENT COMPANY. This experience allowed me to work at the heart of industrial operations by deploying Data & AI solutions to leverage production data, optimize processes, and enhance operational performance. Contrary to the common perception that this industry is a complex technical world, it actually proved to be a dynamic environment where innovation, collaboration, and meaningful exchanges play an essential role. And I got a strong sense of how committed both Management and the teams were to giving young female workers an opportunity to shine. After this V.I.E., I will continue my work-study placement within the Group's Digital Services Department.”
Valentin Saby Grandouiller, V.I.E Geologist :
“It was also after completing my work-study placement at the Vicat Group that I began my V.I.E. at the same American subsidiary. Together with Carla, we demonstrated how different work profiles and expertise contribute every day to industrial performance. Working within the Vicat Group is a particularly enriching experience: it allows you to contribute to concrete projects while developing an international and cross-functional perspective on industrial challenges. Once I complete my V.I.E., I am returning to France to begin my permanent position as Assistant Operations Manager at our quarry site in La Grave de Peille.”
