Egypt's Sinaï Cement Company doubles capacity
Sinaï Cement Company of Egypt, a subsidiary of the Vicat Group, built a second kiln to meet the strong demand of the cement market. The new kiln has been in service since June 27, 2008, enabling the El Arish cement plant to produce 5,000 tons of cement a day.
The Sinaï Cement Company (SCC) already enjoys an excellent reputation, thanks to the quality of its cement, having earned its European standard CEM I 52.5N certification. Increasing its cement grinding capacity to 3.3 million tons, the company has strengthened its influential position in the cement industry. The efficiency of the cooling system for the clinker will boost the company's new production line to 5,000 tons of cement per day.
A major player in the Egyptian market
Supported by economic growth, demographics and a flourishing tourism infrastructure, the Egyptian market recorded a 14% increase in cement consumption last year.
Egyptian demand for cement should reach 38.55 million tons in 2008 and at least 41.5 million tons in 2009.
Becoming the only local producer equipped with an additional kiln with drying and grinding capabilities, the SCC plant is poised to achieve significant progress in the Egyptian market.
