Prompt quick-setting natural cement was mixed with Technichanvre hemp from the Aube region to build the walls of a 168-m² house in the Haute-Loire region. Placed in forms to build 40-cm-thick walls, the hemp concrete is a good insulant. The fast gain in strength of Vicat’s Prompt quick-setting natural cement increased the rate of construction on the site. To keep the structure airtight, the walls were coated with a lime–sand mix on the outside, with a lime wash on the inside. Hempcrete is a sound material that regulates heat and humidity in addition to having a positive carbon balance.
