Two of National Ready Mixed Concrete’s sales associates were honored by the Southern California Concrete Producers for their concrete residential and decoration projects.

In the ‘Decorative Residential’ category, the Falcone Estate, a home with 840 square meters (9,000 sq. ft) of living space, was awarded first prize. Its construction required supplies of concrete, fiber, and color for over 1300 sq.m (14,000 sq. ft) of decorative site paving and a covered arched concrete bridge connecting the house to an office over the garage. The beautiful concept and talented craftsmanship proved that concrete—being durable, flexible, and beautiful—, is the right building material for many applications.
The ‘Green Building’ prize went to the 1300-sq.m (14,000 sq. ft) Newhall County Water District Administration Building, constructed by O'Neil Construction Co. with Insulating Concrete Formwork (ICF) utilizing polystyrene blocks with removable webs to which the builder was able to fasten cementitious siding directly. With concrete over metal floors, pervious-concrete parking lots, and solar panels on the roof to produce an annual 56 kWh of power, the building is extremely energy-efficient.
