International Women’s Day on March 8 was an opportunity for Fondation Sococim to organize a ceremony around the topic of “Women, literacy, and human rights”. The ceremony took place in the courtyard of Sococim Industries’ Maurice Gueye Cultural Center in Rufisque, under the auspices of Coumba Gaye, the Minister with responsibility for human rights. A total of 100 T-shirts was donated to 15 associations of the Suxaat network, a federation of Rufisque-based women’s associations working in a range of economic sectors. The network’s activities revolve around a multitude of issues: literacy, community health, human rights, the environment, lifestyle, and basic social infrastructures.
