Continuing its expansion strategy in markets with strong growth potential, the Vicat Group seized the opportunity to enlarge its presence in the south of India.  In April 2010, it acquired 51% ownership of the Bharathi Cement Company Limited (BCCL) which owns a plant in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

With two production lines, the annual capacity of the plant will reach 5 million tons at the end of the year to supply the high growth potential market of India's south region. BBCL has been marketing its products under the Bharathi Cement brand since 2009.

This second major operation of Vicat in India complements its joint venture with Sagar Cements Limited for the purposes of creating a greenfield plant in Gulbarga, in the state of Karnataka.  The Vicat Sagar Cement plant will reach an annual production capacity of 5 million tons.
